  • Overnight shift is "good" if resident is not on rotation the next day

I noticed that if I have a resident who is on their last day of a rotation, when building a shift schedule, they still show up in green as available to fill an overnight shift that begins on their last day and has a stop time of 8AM on the following day (a day that is hashed out because they are not on the schedule for that time). Is this the intended behavior? If so, is there a shift stop time for an overnight shift after which the resident will no longer show up in green?

Thanks!

Sean

    Hi Sean,

Yes, the system only looks at the start day and time of a shift or call to determine if the resident is on the schedule or not. The reason is that nobody would be able to take a night shift on the last night of a block unless they were on the subsequent block too. In programs where all residents have the same block dates this could be a real problem because the only people able to fill those shifts are the ones doing two blocks in a row, of which there are usually few.
