The MedRez.net Scheduling Tool has been updated.
The shift editing interface has been rebuilt from the ground up with ease of use and flexibility as the primary goals.
What's new:
- It is now just as easy to edit only one shift, a few, or all shifts in a row. This makes it much easier to manage your schedule.
- The "Typical Week" system has been completely eliminated. Instead, use the "Reuse" tool to create new shifts that are modeled after the shifts from any Schedule and Block in your account. This eliminates the head-aches associated with managing both your actual schedules and the Typical Week.
- Staffing Requirements are now set with an intuitive, visual, drag-and-drop interface.
- Tallies have a brand new interface too which is visual, intuitive and flexible. Simply select a Tally to see the shifts that count towards that Tally, and click in the calendar to add or remove shifts from the Tally.
- Areas have a brand new interface too, it is identical to Tallies. Access both Tallies and Areas from the Shifts & Calls tab under the Tools Menu.
Things to know for current users of the Scheduling Tool:
- The new Staffing Requirements interface is not capable of setting a shift to "any number of staff". Therefore if you had shifts with no specific staffing requirements these are now set with no requirements. This means adding anybody to these shifts will show up as "bad" in your schedule. You may wish to change the staffing requirements for these shifts to "0 to 5 PGY-4 or PGY-4 or PGY-3..." for example to return to something that resembles the old behavior.
- Many of you created different sets of shifts for different days of the week because of slight differences in the shifts from day to day. You may now have several rows of shifts that are mostly empty. This is fine, but it takes up room and makes it harder to manage your shifts. You can combine those shifts into a single row by using the "move shifts" function. To do so, select a shift, then click the "move selected shifts" link at the bottom of the left-hand panel. When you move a shift to an existing row, it takes the name of the row but everything else (start and end times, staffing requirements, tallies, etc... ) remains unchanged.
- Trashed Rows of Shifts, individual Shifts, Tallies, and Areas will be completely and irrevocably deleted from the database about 6 days later. Any such item you had in the trash prior to this upgrade will expire in 30 days.
