Thank-you for writing and I am sorry for the trouble.
Yes, in the current version of the Scheduling Tool the system treats any gap between shifts/calls/clinics as the start of a new period of work, so unfortunately it's warning you that there should be an 8-hour rest period there.
Making this rule smarter for situations such as yours is already on my list of things to do when I revisit that part of the program.
In the meantime if you want to get rid of this you could extend the clinic hours so that there is no gap the AM and PM clinics. However your residents may find that confusing.
