Simultaneous Rotations for different PGY fellows

Our program just bought the software for this coming academic year. We are a 3-year cardiology fellowship program with 6 fellows in each academic year. I have a very specific issue. There are certain rotations that all fellows have to do but we can only have one fellow on the service at any one time (could be from any of the 3 years). However each PGY level has a different number of required weeks. For example: There is only one fellow assigned to the ICU at any one time. This could be a PGY4, PGY5 or PGY6 fellow. However, Each PGY6 fellow is required to do 6 to 7 weeks per year, PGY5 fellows are required to do 1 week a year and PGY3 fellows do 2 weeks for the year. When putting in the rotations in MedRez, the options are "Number of residents" and "Number of Blocks per Resident". IT doesn't allow you to break it into individual PGY levels.

Yes, unfortunately this is a limitation of the current system.

The good news is the Rotations Scheduling part of the MedRez.net Scheduling Tool is being rebuilt from the ground up as we speak. In the new version of the software this limitation will not exist.

The new version of the software will be available later this Spring or early Summer.

In the meantime, you can set a wide range of requirements for the blocks per resident. When putting residents on the schedule the number of blocks that they are currently on will be displayed and you can make your scheduling decisions based on that.
